How Specialty Contractors and Geotechnical Consultants Collaborate on Ground Improvement Projects

We will discuss the role of the geotechnical contractor throughout all phases of a project, and the relationship between the contractor and geotechnical consultant and how collaboration with the entire team leads to successful projects for all parties. The presentation will focus on aggregate pier and rigid inclusion ground improvement equipment, installation, and design considerations. The objective of the presentation will be to give geotechnical engineers an understanding of how they can bring value to their clients from concept to completion on ground improvement projects.

Lyle Simonton, P.E. (MO) — Subsurface Constructors, Inc.

Lyle Simonton is the Director of Business Development for Subsurface Constructors of St. Louis, MO. Lyle graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla (MS&T) with a bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering in 1997 and received a master’s degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from the University of Illinois – Champaign Urbana in 1999.  He is a registered professional engineer in Missouri.  Lyle is a member of ASCE and DFI, and is currently on the Soil Improvement Committees for the ASCE Geo-Institute and the Deep Foundations Institute, and serves on the Geo-Institute’s Local Involvement Committee.
