About the Presentation

The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) has been in existence since 1930.  The last significant update was adopted in 2009, minor revisions were last adopted in 2012.  On December 14, 2020, the Federal Highway Administration published in the Federal Register a proposed new edition with 647 specific changes from the current manual.  This presentation provides an overview of proposed changes to practitioners.

Gordon E. Meth, P.E., PTOE, PTP, RSP2I

Gordon Meth has nearly 30 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, including analysis, design, testimony, and forensic investigation. He is currently an expert witness for Robson Forensic, and prepares reports for litigation throughout the United States. He has bachelors and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo, and masters of business administration from Montclair State University. Gordon has appeared before municipal land use boards more than 600 times, has designed more than 300 traffic signal installations, and optimized the timing of more than 800 traffic signals. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in 24 states, the District of Columbia, and one Canadian province. Gordon has been a member of ITE for over 30 years, and he is the current chair of the Traffic Engineering Council. In the past, he served as president of the Metropolitan New York-New Jersey Section of ITE, Chair of the Northeastern District of ITE, and as member of the Transportation Professional Certification Board.
